living & dyeing arraiolos

Living & Dyeing is an artist residency program that gives the opportunity to emerging or professional artists to learn the principles of natural dyes and to experiment the processes in an intensive way.

Together with other participants, this residency wants to create a knowledge sharing time and to provide the tools to experiment.

Córtex Frontal is located in Arraiolos, in Alentejo, Portugal. We provide housing, studios and technical/artistic/critical support. We organise study trips to artistic/cultural/industrial heritage and workshops.

Specifically, the L&D program consists on:Workshops on natural dyes and specific techniques (Full program coming soon);Masterclass on Chemistry of dyeing.Aprox. 40h. of training;In addition, the general program consists on:Regular follow up of the projects;Work presentations;Networking and support with local and regional resources;Cultural visits to the natural, historical and industrial heritage of the region;Resident artist lectures in schools and university;Monthly schedule of the residency, local and regional events.Open Studio.
