Solo Statement: Doesn’t Play Well with Others
April 17, 2026 — Bushwick Gallery, Brooklyn
A one-night gallery takeover for the art that refuses to play nice.
About the Program
Some creations don’t blend in — they dominate. They fill the air, reshape the space, and refuse to be background noise.
Solo Statement: Doesn’t Play Well with Others is Bushwick Gallery’s one-night exhibition series devoted to that kind of work: singular, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore.
For one evening, the gallery becomes your world — your rules, your rhythm, your total vision.
No shared space. No split spotlight.
Just the full force of one artist’s voice, commanding the room.
This is a program for artists who build environments rather than simply hang work. For those who thrive on intensity, immersion, and total creative autonomy.
Who We’re Looking For
We invite artists from every discipline — visual, digital, installation, sound, performance, or something in between — to take over the gallery and make it their own.
You might be a painter who works at a monumental scale, a sculptor whose forms define space, or a performer whose presence fills the air. What matters most is not medium, but magnitude — the power of your concept to stand alone.
We’re especially interested in:
Artists with a bold, uncompromising creative voice
Makers whose work transforms a space into an experience
Visionaries eager to challenge conventional exhibition formats
Experience is optional. Conviction is not.

Why It Matters
Most shows ask artists to share the room. This one asks you to own it.
Solo Statement is a chance to expand beyond the frame — to command a gallery entirely with your vision. It’s not collaboration. It’s not compromise. It’s declaration.
