The 2025 GALLIM Moving Artist Residency is a process-based NYC studio residency for six early career Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Latine, a person of color and people of global majority who are women, non-binary, transgender and gender nonconforming movement artists based in NYC. The Moving Artist Residency fosters a safe space and supports the creative process for artists who have been systematically & culturally excluded from dominant systems.
The residency offers fully-funded, safe and private studio space, an artist stipend, an artistic and peer mentorship program, free workshops, and promotional support (photos & videos) through GALLIM’s communication channels. This residency’s focus is on artistic PROCESS, without any expectation to present a final piece of work. Our definition of “movement artist” is open and includes but is not limited to choreographers, dance makers, performance artists, physical theater makers, dance/movement filmmakers, traditional dance artists, educators, and performers with a Marley floor practice.
Residencies will be held between the weeks of June 9th - Aug 11th, 2025
Each residency is two weeks long (5 days a week, generally Monday-Friday) Studio is available 10am-3pm EST
