Social contract is a critique of the

current lenses through which most

people in the society view the

institution of marriage.

  
With a wedding being viewed as a coming of age ritual where the idea of marriage is emphasized and singleness is mocked by individuals who care for nothing else but flashy suits and pretty wedding gowns.

  
A huge smile from the bride is

expected whether she is happy or

not because it's meant to be the

happiest day of her life.

With immense pressure from

family and peers, a lot of

individuals go into marriage just

to fulfill their end of a supposed

social contract.

Aye rẹ ovie loosely translated in urhobo (my tribal language) means woman king.

I could say this is an allegory to Nigerian rulership 

About how its rulers seem to be having a great time leading the rest of us into great danger and impending catastrophe and how everything feels hopeless, but I won't because in reality, I made this for myself a depiction of what would potentially be in store for me if I drive down the world of art and uncertainty. But like in the image I still push forward happy to be here in the now and hopeful for a better future.

Where we dey go?

Chaos and dreams and lives unlived. a lot of us have had so many different dreams at different times in our lives. 

In another world there would be another "us". This photograph of a lone silhouetted figure against a backdrop of chaotic but beautiful colours examines the struggle of gazing upon different worlds, different lives, different people and still choosing to remain yourself and chasing your own dreams.

The dreamer

This piece captures the father of a wedding bride moments after he gives his daughter away after walking her down the aisle. The subject exudes a certain authority and power bestowed by tradition, culture and heritage.

This image highlights the essence of Nigerian/Black communities and the intimacy that lies at the centre of their connection. With a subtle undertone of Nostalgia, the potrayal beautifully unveils a rich history and heritage that emphasises the enduring power of these connections through the ages. 

  
The music that transcends time and generations acts as a conduit for sharing emotions, memories and traditions, it also brings and binds the community together. 

The games we play that allow the imparting of wisdom and intergenerational knowledge. The sacred and delicate bonds that exist with our hair and it's maker, the unspoken trust we share. 

  
The connections we share collectively becomes the soul that breathes life into our community.

  

Black Soul

This piece plays with the idea of companionship and lovers finding freedom with each other as they navigate the experience which life is, when you find a person that'll hold your hand and dive headfirst into the darkness for you and with you and agree to turn their backs on the rest of the world as long as they're holding your hand.
