Painting, photography, graphics, video, performance, or installation – the Kommunale Galerie Berlin has been a contemporary forum for all genres of contemporary art in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and for the Berlin art scene since 1974. Whether serving as a project space for artists' associations or a first platform for emerging artists, the Kommunale Galerie Berlin promotes and supports these initiatives and opens up participation in the art scene for everyone. A focus of the exhibition program is artistic photography.
The Kommunale Galerie Berlin presents the broad artistic range and cultural diversity of artists living and working in Berlin through numerous exhibitions and events. For five decades, art and cultural producers have been presenting their creative potential to a broad public here.
The gallery's studio is a place for cultural education and art education in the context of the visual arts; the Artothek – also founded in the 1970s – offers an extensive collection of works of art for loan.
