Eteranous, meaning eternal knowing is a made up word which combines the word Eternal, considering the timelessness of life and nous meaning intellect, as I considered the notion of a divine mind.

Lumelia, a shortened version of luminescence, is a painting that depicts an ambiguous entity coated in ropes of vibrant red-violet and hoods of yellow-green leaves, juxtaposed with vibrating and enchanting orange spheres. Lumelia is a shifting world unto itself that beholds the intention to draw you deeper into its own alluring mystery.

Meaning Violet rising bow is a word that I recently made up after feeling compelled to start creating my own words as a way of naming my paintings more sincerely. The painting depicts a feverish yet playful jumble of ambiguous shapes and forms, decorated in vibrant glazes of yellow green, blue green and red violet. From my perspective, no discernible meaning can be derived from Viorbow for instead, it serves as an experience. A window into the other. 

Inspired by the places in which my mind has travelled to under the influence of entheogens, I have been thinking about the notion of boundary dissolution. This seeded an idea to create paintings which you could become one with. By removing anything instantly recognisable from my visual vocabulary it has all been replaced with forms and shapes derived from memorised and unconsciously internalised imagery, found in life, or the internet or in passing.  As you gaze upon Viorbow, take a breath in and let the violet rise with you.

I first heard this excerpt in a long talk by the brilliant Terence McKenna. I can’t remember when I stumbled across Mckenna’s lectures but somehow, they came into my life laced with a sense of familiarity, and ever since discovering his work many years back, I’ve been an avid fan. I wish he were still alive today as I’m sure he would have found his way into many podcasts and continued to delight our minds with his unique voice and ability to weave together complex and out-there ideas! His talks led me to embark upon my first entheogenic experience which completely transformed my perspective towards life and the world around me, at a time when things felt little more than bleak and hopeless. Nevertheless, I am eternally grateful to that curious man for having the courage to delve deeper into learning about the imagination and then bringing his findings to the fore. 


Iridule

Solesient, a painting that marks the beginning of a new chapter in my creative journey, was inspired by the visionary states of consciousness induced by entheogens. The title is a made-up word by myself which is a combination of Soul and Sentience, the when united form a literary embodiment of our humanity, which explores the notion that as a species we are both physical and non-physical.

Harbouring delights. A project composed of 3 acrylic paintings on wooden panels, themes of eastern mysticism and altered states of consciousness intermingle in surreal, vibrant, and psychedelic worlds, populated by faceless figures, aged masks, and rays of pastel-coloured light.
At the heart of these paintings, there runs a continuous stream of investigating the mystery of the internal world of being human. Brookfield equally found himself drawn to the mythological stories and artefacts of ancient societies which has largely informed his aesthetical sensibility in these new paintings. In his description of the work, he says “the paintings are like worlds which explore the varying subtle energies of my subconscious mind, populated by faceless figures who are at the mercy, wheel of or bearing witness to unearthly enigmatic dimensions.” 
In part, this series symbolises the beginning of a new chapter. One of which reaches into human history and celebrates a reverence for the internal world of the human experience.
