8WEEKSinFEZ is a place-based artist residency and cultural storytelling project hosted by Fez Art Residency. Set in Morocco’s UNESCO-listed Fez Medina - the world’s oldest and largest medina, and urban car-free zone, the residency offers fully-funded accommodation in private apartments to selected visual artists for 1 to 8 weeks during September and October 2025.

  
This low-pressure, self-directed residency invites artists to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with their creative process in an environment rich with tradition, craftsmanship, and sensory inspiration. With no deadlines or production requirements, artists are free to explore the city’s textures, rhythms, and stories at their own pace. Creative freedom, cultural immersion, and personal growth lie at its heart.

  
Fez Art Residency is a collaborative, artist-led programme based in the heart of Fez Medina. We offer flexible residencies and creative retreats - ranging from funded stays and self-funded programmes to partner-supported placements and co-hosted projects. Rooted in the cultural richness of Fez, our residencies are designed to support artists at all stages in a setting where heritage, creativity, and connection come together.

Residencies are flexible by design. Artists may opt for a simple, self-contained stay or choose to build a fully curated experience that includes studio access, artisan workshops, local collaborations, cultural tours, or skill-building sessions. The more curated and supported your programme, the more the cost reflects that level of involvement – allowing artists to tailor their residency to both budget and ambition.
