About

Esen Gökçe is an interdisciplinary artist based in Istanbul. She is born in 2000. She studied Combined Arts Programme in Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul and graduated with third place.

A lot of different genres influence her work, such as Mysticism, Surrealism, Symbolism and Hyperrealism. She presents a way to observe the ever-flowing state of reality by forcing the limits of the human comprehension both in its conscious and subconscious states with mostly ungendered and unbiased works that are heavily related to human mind and perception.

Her works build on the well-recognized philosophy of Heraclitus, "Panta Rhei", which means "Eveyrthing flows. "Nothing is permanent. No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man." Therefore it is not possible to perceive the same artwork twice, for one is not the person a moment before and the artwork is not the same artwork.

The flow is not about the time's linearity. The truth, the image, the time and the minds flows alltogether. Thus the artwork is being comprehended and perceived differently by each and every observer.
