In 2025, artists from all areas of the visual arts will once again have the opportunity to apply for the “Ennepe-Ruhr Art Prize” with imaginative and creative works surrounding this year's them of “Light and Shadow.”

  
The district administration is holding this competition for the eighth time. As always, there is a theme; this time, the entries should relate to the theme "Light and Shadow." For example, drawings, photographs or paintings, sculptures, installations or video projections can be submitted.

From all submissions, a jury led by Christoph Kohl, director of the Märkisches Museum Witten, will select works by up to 20 artists. These will be exhibited at the Hattingen City Museum in December 2025 and January 2026 and presented in a catalogue.

  
The jury will award the art prize itself in three equal prizes. Each prize is endowed with €1,500 and will be presented on December 5th at the Hattingen City Museum.
