"Quick escape" 

This drawing was inspired by the optimism that arises after enduring emotional and mental hardships. It’s a surreal representation of personal growth and joy reappearing after a period of grief, stillness, and despair. The woman’s stiff, cold, and stoned body represents the emotional turmoil we can experience and the ending of a suffering period. But, the new life growing out of her, the plants and illuminating tiny figures represent a new cycle that can also emerge from that suffering. The four small figures are glowing, they are joyful, and some are dancing alongside the plant. The overall meaning of this piece is to bring a sense of inspiration for those experiencing life’s difficulties- that it’s possible to rediscover the light in life when you’ve been in the dark for so long.

"Spiritual evolution" 

Within most Western societies and cultures, snakes are animals that are predominately viewed with an evil connotation. However, there is an alternate hidden meaning that snakes can also hold, which is that they symbolize transformation, rebirth, and fertility. The inspiration behind this piece comes from the alternate positive representation that snakes carry. The title stems from the woman who is kneeling alongside the snake, with curiosity and an attempt to pet it. This is a metaphorical visual of encountering yourself with your biggest fears that have the potential to be life-changing and positively transformative. The piece is filled with selective imagery symbolizing hope, renewal, and discovery. 

"Intrigued by fear" 

“Despiértate,” which translates to “Wake up,” is an oil painting of specific imagery mixed with a euphoric abstract background. The name of this piece stems from the need to “wake up” from a daydream - this is depicted through the bodily expressions of the feminine figures and the symbolism of Latin elements. This painting was inspired by personal experiences with my culture and spiritual growth. It is a piece that immerses inner personal and cultural symbolism. 

"Despiértate"
