I made the triptych " I see you" during the first wave of pandemic in Germany while I was contemplating how it all will affect the world and our perception of each other. Each painting is dedicated to different ways of uprooting yourself and finding connection in times of anxiety, through reflection in and comparing oneself to the others, through finding yourself in nature or through submitting yourself to higher power.

My work depicts my worries about the intimacy, trust and uprising polarisation of society.

"Every day I am building my world from bottom to top.

Trying to find the ground. Trying to see what is around.

  
Recalculating my stream, to not fall into extreme.

All previous structures failed me, all new ones enslaved me

The chaos I can't survive.

For what then shall I strive?

Predominantly I am blessed

But half the time so stressed

Too stressed to enjoy my blessings.

Too stressed to see things for what they really are

Too stressed to see that I went too far.

Too far from what? I don't know. I would say from the way I thought I would go. But the one who thought went astray.

So I am rebuilding my world from the bottom today."

"The lady of the unicorn" is inspired by a medieval tapestry and dedicated to the idea of escaping into the fantasy of pure and innocent world where one can find a mighty, magical protector against all ills and worries of the every day life.

This work is a representation of an idea that what you want to be or pretend to be finally becomes you even though you think that you are the one in control. The language (professional language or slang for example) you use daily is slowly shaping you as a person and one day when you look in the mirror you realize that you are not the person you used to be.

This painting is inspired by the first verse in the opening chapter of the Gospel of John. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. I tried to picture here the overwhelming power of the language to shape our perception and understanding of the world.

Self-deprivation, self-obsession.
I think I run but still I stand. Not able to break the trend
Of coming back to root.
Each time just trying to reboot.
The world from zero point.
Forgetting that the cause is me,
I am all the branches of this ever evolving tree,
there is no place outside to become free.
