As a personal way of dealing with isolation, I made this project that was inspired by our present situation of world curfew. I am visual artist, mainly focused on art and street photography, I also like to experiment with ideas and techniques, always looking for new way to convey my vision. During quarantine downtime I accidently decided to go to Google Street View, blindly dropped in a random city and literally just started going down every street and making screenshots, submerged myself into this unusual process and fascinated by the beauty I could found in virtual cities. I felt more freedom as I would walking around the city, as I could snap people that look straight away in “lenses” in inconspicuous way. The presence of the whole world in the internet is insane as a fact, the way it represented is even more bizarre, everything is frozen that gives a feeling of sort of museum, virtual exhibition of life, where life is a performance and people with blurred faces are archetype
I caught many unsuspecting subjects- empty streets, picturesque landscapes, occasional people interactions, ghost towns, abandoned houses in the middle of nowhere, animals alienated-looking, broken cars, fires, spectacular intersection of events. In this project I just want to convey the atmosphere of mystery of normality, framing all this in compositions. It’s brought me closer to the world, cities and countries I would never ever visit before. Google Street View was created for functional reasons, it is neutral observational machine, a tool for practical human needs which artist can use as a brush, giving it a second life just by framing certain scenes into compositions and creating sort of conceptual paintings.
