I injected acrylic paint with syringes into bubblewrap. Two paintings are created by this technique. It took me between 3 weeks and 3 months to complete each of these paintings, depending on the size.
"Willow Smith", March/April 2020, 77 x 70 cm, bubblewrap,acrylic paint
"St. Stephan' Cathedral", May 2020, 109 x 67 cm, bubblewrap, acrylic paint
"Mirrored Map", June 2020, 2 paintings, both 49 x 58 cm, 1x bubblewrap, acrylic paint, 1x acrylic paint
"Kylie Jenner", July/August/September 2020, 2 paintings, 1 painting 99 x 84 cm, bubblewrap, acrylic paint, 1 painting 100 x 93 cm, acrylic paint
"The Mirrored Map" is supposed to be imagined in front of a mirror. The observer sees the painting in the mirror as the world is. However, when they look back to the painting, they see a mirrored version of the world. This should make you reflect more on reality and think less about the illusory world.
At the beginning of “St. Stephen's Cathedral“ I was thinking about the interest of the general public. After it was created, I wondered, if I had created an object of art or a tourist product.
The idea behind the portraits is to question the relationship between fame and art. For example, Willow Smith often posts art portraits of herself on her Instagram account. I wanted to see, if through her fame my artwork would be noticed more.
