My body of work is full of surreal, often anthropomorphic figures — sometimes grotesque, emotional, at other times macabre, and usually with distinct feminist undertones. My work tends to revolve around the body, death, and mythology. It is full of both highbrow and lowbrow themes, as well as cultural references. My figures oscillate between states of power and vulnerability. I like to work with emptiness — removing some body parts of my figures under the cloth, conveying the impression of the figure and not the real body — hoping this leaves more space for the audience ́s imagination. I often balance somewhere between fiction and reality, but even my loudest and the kitschiest works hide fragile inner messages, which are layered and not initially visible. I follow my instincts, and hopefully they guide me well.
