KAMEN Artist Residency is an independent non-profit residency program for artistic production and research, located in the stunning and quiet rural area of Orah, Bosnia-Herzegovina, by Lake Bileća. The landscape is made up of limestone and is riddles with underground rivers, sinkholes, caves and endemic species. Our vegetable garden and fruit orchard bears abundant produce and we maintain self-sustaining and regenerative circumstances.
We established to create space for artists and art-related researchers to live and work in proximity, and spend a residency period with specific focus. The residencies are suitable for the development of new works, a solo or collaborative project, a research project, to work on one's ongoing practice, or hold an art retreat. We are open to a wide range of disciplines, and particularly welcome interdisciplinary exchanges and experimental practices.
Artists are offered private living and working facilities, basic studio supplies, project assistance, and a network or regional associates and partners to connect with, if relevant to the project. We are not outcome-oriented, yet we extend an dopen invitation to our residents to hold a public presentation in their preferred scale and format, to be organized in collaboration with our local partners.
