Dialogues in plays or movies must be very well crafted and right to the point. If it is well done, the characters' relating  has an intensity and a purity that we all long for. Here is your chance to slip into a different character's feet and live that intensity together with a scene partner. Choose a scene from a movie or a play, a character close to you or someone that provides a challenge, work on it for several weeks together and then present it in public to an invited audience.

The course has two parts:

1.  We will get to know character building, how to work in dialogues and monologues, create "the space" and relating to yourself, your character and your scene partners, deal with STATUS issues but also have time to get to know your course partners and several scenes to choose from

2. action: We will then each choose one scene from plays, films etc and then work in groups or pairs throughout the second part of the course on that scene together.

In the end there will be a public presentation of the scenes we worked on
on November 27 2014

This course includes homework as of learning lines and developing a character that will then be presented and worked with in class. You will also be asked to meet up with your scene partner(s) during the week and the off-course Thursdays to rehearse with each other.

We will focus on relationships on stage ° active listening ° exploring the different levels of energy and how to apply that found physicality to your chosen character ° creating spaces and awareness of what is happening on stage ° scene study ° character development ° rhythm ° movement and using the body as a transformative tool ° working with props ° and improvise with different ways to approach the scenes

PLAYFUL COURSE IN THE DRAMATIC ARTS - STAGE ENCOUNTERS 

In the Dialogue Course, we focus on classic acting - learning how to create and/or fill out a character and rehearse a certain scene from theatre or movies. Usually we work in pairs on one scene throughout the course. The course culminates in a performance of our scenes to an invited audience.

This course has two parts: 
1. preparation: We will get to know character building, how to work in dialogues, create "the space" and relating to yourself, your character and your scene partners. 

2.action: We will each choose one scene from plays, films etc and then work in groups or pairs throughout the second part of the course on that scene together. Every week we take a look at a new dramatic angle fo the scene, so you will get to know it from all different perspectives and try out various ways of staging and acting it.

There will be a public presentation of the scenes we worked on on June 19th 

This course regards the body as a central tool of acting, so be prepared to move a lot. This course includes homework as of learning lines and developing a character that will then be presented and worked with in class. We will focus on relationships on stage ° creating spaces and awareness of what is happening on stage ° scene study ° character development ° rhythm ° movement and using the body as a transformative tool ° working with props ° imrovisation
