Cherise Hewitt is a black British artist with a Caribbean background who started art at the young age of 9. She studied social work at Canterbury Christ Church University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. Cherise is planning on completing her Masters degree in art therapy some time in the near future. She rediscovered her love for art in late 2019 whilst completing her studies and started experimenting with digital art due to her lack of resources. Her day to day work focuses on African culture and representation of the black community. My interest in art grew after completing over 80 designs for a fashion brand I would like to have in the future. As I did not have the finances to start my brand I started looking at other ways to utilise the resources I had. I use art as a way to ground myself and as a form of therapy.
