Overview

For the fourth consecutive year, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) and the Camargo Foundation are teaming up to offer two residency scholarships to the Camargo Foundation for an artist (must be residing abroad) and a social science researcher.

This device aims to stimulate relations and exchanges between researchers and artists for the development of projects at the interface between the social sciences and all fields of the arts for joint production. He participates in this reflection on the mutual enrichments resulting from the dialogue between creation and research recently reinforced by the CRESS - Creation research in social sciences program.

In presenting their proposals, candidates must be concerned to show, from their research or their background, their interest in interdisciplinary crossings and exchanges between the social sciences and the arts.

The residences, with a total duration of four weeks (possibility of one or two stays), will take place between November 2023 and November 2024. Dates will be set according to the availability of the teams and the Camargo Foundation.

The researcher must belong to a laboratory of which one of the guardianships is the EHESS. In order to be eligible, he/she must be attached to the EHESS at the time of application and during residency. The artist must be the main designer of a new work or project. To be eligible, the artist must reside abroad.

Support for the artist: an allowance of an amount equivalent to one month provided for under the program of invited foreign teachers (between 3700 and 4000 euros depending on the country of origin for a period of 28 days). For the EHESS researcher: reimbursement of costs related to residence (transport if necessary, per diem).

The reception of the selected team in Camargo provides for the provision of an apartment with equipped kitchen and bathroom during the month of residence. Because of its geographical location facing the sea and its relationship to the surrounding landscape, Camargo offers a framework conducive to exchanges, research, contemplation and reflection. Workspaces include a library, a plastic arts workshop and a musical creation workshop (subject to availability), an outdoor theater, as well as shared informal spaces such as terraces and gardens.
