In 2023, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain joined forces to create the Art & Environment Prize, awarded annually to a work of universal significance whose philosophical depth resonates with that of Lee Ufan. Its environmental dimension reflects the values championed by Maison Guerlain.
Sharing a common commitment to artistic support, transmission, and the relationship between art and the environment, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain encourage artistic practices that are both responsible and forward-looking, fostering new forms of dialogue with nature.
The exhibition of the third Art & Environment Prize laureate, Pooya Abbasian, will be presented at Lee Ufan Arles’ Atelier MA from 6 July to 4 October 2026.
The project, developed during his residency in Arles, explores the migration of living beings and the notion of hospitality through the figure of the baccharis plant and the myth of the Beast of Vaccarès. Combining traditional techniques with video projection, the artist transforms the landscape into a poetic space of transition that questions our relationship with otherness.
2026: Fourth Edition
With the 2026 Art & Environment Prize, Lee Ufan Arles and Guerlain seek to cultivate a creative space that fosters conceptual, semantic, and aesthetic connections between the work of emerging artists and that of Lee Ufan. The Prize welcomes ambitious projects that offer new perspectives on our relationship with modernity, as well as practices grounded in long-term temporalities and engaged with nature, the environment, and materiality.
