Overview

Foundation Ama Amoedo and Foundation Casa Wabi are pleased to announce for the second consecutive year their institutional alliance that will take place in 2024. The initiative is part of the Casa Wabi Foundation’s residency program in Puerto Escondido and the Ama Amoedo Foundation’s residency program in José Ignacio, Uruguay.

Through an open call, two artists will be selected to participate in a four-week residency at Casa Neptuna (José Ignacio, Uruguay), intended for two former residents of Mexican citizenship of Casa Wabi.

The Ama Amoedo Foundation celebrates this alliance with the Casa Wabi Foundation, within the framework of its new FAARA Conecta program, which aims to expand connectivity networks and stimulate production in different cultural contexts. The residency at Casa Neptuna is a special edition of the FAARA Sur interdisciplinary residency.

About Ama Amoedo Foundation

Ama Amoedo Foundation is a non-profit organization conceived with the mission of creating a lasting impact in the ecosystem of Latin American contemporary art. Our goal is to encourage the presence of artists from the region and amplify their visibility in the global art scene.

Based in Uruguay, the Ama Amoedo Foundation was created in 2021 to formalize the support that Amoedo has been providing independently for more than twenty years, as a philanthropist, patron and collector. The Foundation has the interest of encouraging dialogue and connections between the art of Latin America, the Caribbean and the Latin American diaspora, with a special focus on the scenes of Argentina and Uruguay. Focused on expanding the recognition and social value of artistic work, the Ama Amoedo Foundation offers artists and cultural agents different initiatives, such as scholarships, programs and artistic residencies, to support their practices and promote diverse perspectives and discourses.

Our residency programs take place at Casa Neptuna, a space specially commissioned by the Argentine artist Edgardo Giménez. Casa Neptuna is located in José Ignacio, Uruguay, meters from the ocean and immersed in the native forest. The FAARA South residency invites an interdisciplinary exchange. Residents will have the opportunity to focus on a specific project, which may be a continuation of pre-existing work or focus on a new line of research.
