The ZADIK | Central Archive for German and International Art Market Research, in cooperation with the Society for the Promotion of ZADIK e.V., awards the Carte Blanche Fellowship. Each year, artists are sought to engage with the ZADIK archives within the framework of an artistic research project. In addition to a stipend, the Carte Blanche Fellow receives mentoring from the ZADIK team in their work with the selected archives. The aim is to foster an artistic exploration of ZADIK's archival materials that promotes a deeper understanding of artistic perspectives on the themes and content of the archive and its holdings. The Carte Blanche Fellow is free to define the framework of their artistic research.

What is Carte Blanche?
As part of ZADIK's 30th anniversary celebrations in 2022, an artistic research project was realized at ZADIK by artists from the ZOO collective . This showed that an archive can also be fruitful for artistic production. 

The ZADIK's Artistic Research Fellowship Carte Blanche builds on this concept, aiming to give artists the opportunity to research ZADIK's holdings and create an artistic work by engaging with and connecting to the archival materials. Carte Blanche here means creating "free space for artistic research." As part of the fellowship, you will have the opportunity to develop an independent artistic project and present it publicly in ZADIK's Intermezzo space. You will be free to use the space and the archival materials for your own artistic practice.
