Public space in Munich is scarce and highly sought after. Questions of space concern everyone in this city – living space, workspace, transportation space, recreational space, space for exchange, but also for individual, artistic expression. A time of crisis makes the importance of these spaces all the more apparent.

For the Annuale 2027, the annual Public Art Munich series, the Department of Cultural Affairs has therefore decided not to impose any strict thematic, formal, or site-specific restrictions. We want to create space for freedom – and room for art.
