Media art is a focal point of the Goetz Collection. It includes films, videos, slide projections, extensive multi-channel projections, and large-scale installations. With a holding of more than 500 works, it is one of the largest in the world. The goal of the Goetz Collection is not only to exhibit and preserve its holdings, but also to expand them. 

To promote young artists in the field of media art, support the creation of new works, and enhance their public awareness, the Ingvild and Stephan Goetz Art Foundation, in cooperation with the Goetz Collection and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, is offering a Media Art Prize.
