As a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Karlsruhe is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and we have found the perfect partner in dm-drogerie markt, a sustainable and future-oriented company based in Karlsruhe. The dm-Award connecting worlds is open to international artists, who can apply individually or as a collective. The submitted projects are to be realized in 2027 as part of the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival and the exhibition "Media art is here ." These two events will take place over four weeks between mid-August and mid-September 2027. During the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE, several projection mappings with varying content and lengths will be shown each evening. The winning project can be integrated into this program or presented as a standalone piece.
We are looking for innovative projects that, under the motto " PLAYGROUND ", connect the digital space of the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE projection mappings on the facade with the analog space on the market square into the city, thus playfully activating the public space.
