The Color Scheme Residency is a facet of the Visiting Artist Series born of the recognition that many artists have historically been excluded from formal art spaces, including artist residencies. Building on this knowledge, this residency seeks to take an active role in creating a Colorado arts community that uplifts and engages with historically underrepresented communities. Selected artists will be reflective of the arts community at large and open to participating in activities (workshops, exhibits, community conversations) that address specific themes and issues affecting historically underrepresented artists and communities.
Committed to creating a place for artists to thrive, ASLD’s Residency Programs provide financial support, studio space, and exhibition opportunities for selected artists to immerse themselves in their practice and connect with ASLD’s community. In exchange, ASLD’s constituents across the Denver metro region can engage with and learn from visiting and local artists through an extended engagement. The Color Scheme Residency was created with the goal to increase visibility and provide resources to support historically marginalized artists.
Each residency is tailored to the selected artist’s expertise and discipline.
