Interlude is uniquely designed for visual artists who are actively parenting. We provide fully-funded, three-week residencies at our Hudson Valley site, where artists can focus on their creative practice without choosing between art and family. Each residency includes private studio space, family accommodations, curated professional development, weekly shared meals, and a stipend to support your attendance.
Your Family, Your Way: Attend with your children on-site, bring additional family to help with childcare, or come solo—whatever works best for you. We offer individualized childcare planning and connect you with vetted local providers, camps, and programming. The property includes play spaces, a kids' art studio, and outdoor areas designed with families in mind.
Community: Two carefully matched artist/family units share each session, creating meaningful connection with peers who understand the joys and challenges of making art while raising children.
Studios: Climate-controlled spaces with beautiful views, lofted areas, WiFi, and sinks. Work in any medium except highly toxic materials. No ceramics facilities, kiln, or wood shop available.
Accessibility: Our facilities are not currently ADA compliant, though we're actively working toward improvements. Please contact us with specific accessibility questions.
Scheduling: You will not see any specifics on our Residency Calendar in this initial application. We request availability and other more detailed information from the Finalist round of applicants only. From there, we schedule out accepted applicants into a two-year cohort. Our programming runs 3 week sessions year-round.
