ubah rumah residency

Ubah Rumah Residency is calling for applications from Southeast Asia-based artists to stay for 4 to 6 weeks in 2027 or 2028 on Nikoi Island, Bintan, Indonesia.

Ubah Rumah Residency is an artist studio on Nikoi Island, a private island in Bintan. Derived from the Malay language, Ubah Rumah envisions itself as a ‘Home of Change’, inspired by the nomadic culture of the Orang Laut of the Riau islands.

At the heart of the project is the Living Studio, activated by each resident through bespoke experiences created for island guests. Ubah Rumah Residency hosts artists from Southeast Asia whose practices engage with the intersection of art, ecology, and hospitality.
