torino design city 2025 – reimagining a museum

The City of Turin, as a UNESCO Creative City for Design, launches the Torino Design City – Summer School 2025, inviting participants with diverse design backgrounds to collectively imagine new possible futures for cultural institutions of the 21st century.

Torino Design City – Summer School 2025 focuses on a moment of dynamic transformation, in which cultural institutions are evolving to better respond to the challenges of the present.

How are they becoming more open, inclusive and democratic in an increasingly polarized era?

At the same time, participants will explore the role of design in these transformation processes: from the reorganization of governance and work systems, to the definition of spaces, objects and communication formats for these institutions.

During the Summer School, participants will be introduced to the transformation processes currently underway, in both Turin and international institutions. During their stay in Turin, they immersed themselves in the transformation processes already underway. They will then be asked to work on a real case study: the MAcA – Museo A come Ambiente, proposing concrete scenarios with a direct impact on the future of the museum.
