Established in 1998, the Nordic Artists’ Centre in Dale is a non-profit contemporary art institution owned by a self-sustained foundation and mainly supported by the Arts Council Norway. Since its foundation, NKD has created opportunities for emerging and established artists, designers, architects and curators to research, develop their practices and network with colleagues.

NKD is located in Dale in Fjaler municipality, north of Sognefjorden, on the west coast of Norway. The location is in a rather secluded area, at the edge of the forest and mountains. Dale is a typically small fjord community with basic shops and a café. The nearest town, Førde is one hour away by bus. Bergen, the nearest city, can be reached by bus and boat, or car within three hours.

We anticipate the residents to use the time and the facilities to the best, concerning the artistical work. During the stay you are expected to have a presentation/talk, and to participate in an open studio day. Other events might come about. Note: We do not run an exhibition program.
