Curator-in-residence programme in Prostor is a month-long programme open for international curators, with specific emphasis on emerging and mid-career curators. The aim of the programme is to contribute to the internationalization of the local art scene, by provoking it and empowering it at the same time, and bringing different and innovative perspectives. The curator applies with a project that corresponds to the theme of Unknown, a term that can be explored from any given perspective, and can be focused on objects, sites or time. At least one public event (exhibition, talk, workshop) is required to be produced as the outcome of the proposed research project.
The selected curator will spend 4 weeks in Split, undertaking research and making connections and exchanges with the local community and art scene - through organized networking sessions and studio visits and by participating in public events, with the opportunity to organize a public event.
During 4 weeks, the selected participant will be able to learn about the local historical and cultural context, get to know the local art scene and its actors. The selected curator will have a dedicated time and space as well as the support during their research. This will be done through a series of study visits, meetings with local stakeholders and cultural actors, but also local community. The curator will present their practice to the public in a form of a presentation/open lecture. The visiting curator will also need to organize an event (this can be either an exhibition, or any other format: e.g. workshops, talks, or combination), with the allocated budget of up to 1000 euros (for artist fees and production costs).
