Burnt Sienna art school Berlin
– Institute for Painting and Artistic Practice Berlin
Founded in 2016 by painter Louise Lenz (formerly Louise Thomas, UK), Burnt Sienna Berlin is an independent, artist-led mentoring programme dedicated to rigorous painting practice.
The programme was established to bridge the gap between formal art education and sustained studio development. It supports emerging and mid-career painters through structured mentoring, material refinement, critical dialogue, and exhibition preparation.
Burnt Sienna works with small cohorts of painters and maintains international exchange, including dialogue with universities and art institutions in Australia and Norway. International artists regularly participate in the programme.
The expansion into Charlottenburg marks a new phase for the institute, incorporating shared studio spaces, a rotating visiting artist residency, and an on-site gallery for curated exhibitions.
Burnt Sienna is committed to serious, research-led painting practice and long-term artistic development.
