The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists is open to artists who want to utilize the Museum’s resources, including the permanent collections and the holdings of the Rakow Research Library, to inform their practice. The residency is named for the former executive director of The Corning Museum of Glass, David Whitehouse, a highly regarded scholar who worked to build the resources of the Rakow Library and was a major supporter of artists working in glass. This residency offers artists dedicated time and resources for exploring glass-related topics using the collections of The Rakow Research Library and the Museum, with the support of expert staff from both the Museum and Library.
The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists is not a glassmaking residency; no provisions are made for artists to create work at The Studio.
David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists may be one, two, or three weeks in duration and can be scheduled throughout the year. Artists can designate and prioritize their availability on the application form. Residency recipients are invited to give a public lecture about their artistic practice or research during a free public lecture at The Studio.
