Axel Obiger is a space for contemporary art in Berlin-Mitte. Since it was founded in 2009, it has specifically promoted the dialogue between permanent gallery artists and invited guest artists and curators with double and group exhibitions. Obiger sees itself as a platform for socially relevant issues that find their expression in increasingly sophisticated artistic ideas and positions.
The artists Alke Brinkmann, Thilo Droste, Juliane Duda, Nathalie Grenzhaeuser, Harriet Groß, Gabriele Künne, Matthias Moravek, Enrico Niemann and Maja Rohwetter create not only a contact point for Berlin-based and international artistic positions but also a place for intensive artistic debate.
The exhibitions take place monthly and are accompanied by lectures, performances and screenings. In recent years, Axel Obiger received the award for artistic project spaces from the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe, part of the annual program from VG BildKunst and basic funding from the Berlin Senate for 2020/21.
