The work pays homage to ñanduty, a South-American handmade textile derived from colonial times. The act of weaving becomes a subtle practice of cultural resistance. The sun motifs evoke rhizomes, webs of elements without hierarchies, connected and interdependent, capable of defying hegemonic power.

Cultural Wounds (Flowing structures)

Open, concealed, and naturalized wounds. The ones that remain unhealed in the individual and collective bodies.  
The cultural wounds refer to those marks left in the society by centuries of physical and symbolic violence. They are a product of the narratives created to legitimize power, establishing hierarchies between “races” and “genders”, and invisibilizing ways of feeling and thinking that do not respond to European canons.  
The symbolism of the vase in this series of sculptures evokes the gestation of a new outlook, the creation of new ways of coexisting. The weightlessness of its organic shapes turns the viewers into witnesses of a metamorphosis process.  
Taking inspiration from the delicate nature of European lace patterns from the Renaissance, the flowery figures aim to seduce the viewers through the appeal of “classical” beauty at the same time that subtly reveals the presence of these lacerations.  
The pieces aim to express the possibility of healing through substituting the binary constructions of Western thinking for new fluid conceptions of being.
