This painting references the woven texture of cloth and thread, the over and under repetition is a continued theme in my work. This painting also speaks of connectivity and the tapestry of cultures that exist in my local area.

This painting is a further exploration of layering and space. Here I have torn through multiple layers to create an engaging visual hierarchy, referencing the urban patterns and marks that adorn our cities.

RESILIENCE

The primary ground for this multi layered piece is discarded billboard advertisements made up of glossy and matt surfaces. I frequently procure and recycle found materials and substances in the creation of these works. Attaching this to board becomes a unique way to begin a painting, literally recycling a history of image and colour and connecting me to a shared urban story. In a present time of struggling to source materials and paint, working with locally found objects seems appropriate.

This painting features a convergence of techniques such as printing, ripping, sticking, drawing and dripping. The layers are built up primarily by found discarded advertisements creating the idea of a shared visual history.
