The Increase explores anxieties and apathies toward current environmental concerns through an abstract fantasy narrative that borrows language from advertising, propaganda, documentary and educational video styles, re-ordering them with a new logic. The work places an original narrated story over reedited found VHS footage, with added text and original soundtrack. These multiple layers float the work between epochs into a fictional space where the past is used to reflect upon the present and speculate about the future.

An on-going exchange with Tarot card reader Leonor Beuter (Magic Raum). Each reading draws one main card out of the 22 Major Arcana cards, with one background card. After each reading one song is made in response.

Tarot Exchange : Card XX - Le Judgement

Using what is exterior to allegorically mirror the interior, the works in this series take fragments from the macrocosm of the Universe to magnify the microcosm of ‘the self’.

The collages manifest as a form of cosmographic self portraiture: expanding outwards in a process of excavation that explores and maps interior labyrinths. The collages re-order found imagery from the past in an attempt to unravel the present and capture fleeting sensations or inexplicable instances within the subconscious mind.

Microcosm 10839 and Microcosm 10849 are currently on display at Aether Bar/Space, Berlin, Germany.

Seven Colour Crystal Balls is the video component from an installation exhibited in the exhibition 'En la Ciudad de los Círculos/In the City of Circles', at Residencia Corazón, La Plata, Argentina, 2010. The work was projected onto a circular body of water within a basin-like sculpture.

Caves of Requirement investigates personal notions of escapism by re-imagining the sanctuaries we retreat to when in need of 'time-out'. The work explores the private dwellings we create in our backyards, bedrooms, offices and inner psyches to shut out and recharge from the regular confines of reality, time and place. 

INSTALLATION 2

DETAILS: very low lighting, damp/humid climate, viewers enter to find themselves upon an entire floor of 20cm thick memory foam and are surrounded by cold rocks which they can touch and interact with. Natural sounds from water fountain mix with artifial ambient sound works coming from speakers.

MATERIALS: steel geodesic dome, felt insulation, tatami mats, wooden shoe rack, cotton, memory foam, velvet, painted river rocks, water fountain, sound, aromatic diffuser, ‘exotic spice’ essential oils, coloured light

DETAILS: In the deckchair viewers control the lighting colour spectrum of the hut through use of the controller, natural smells come from bamboo and palm fronds.

MATERIALS: palm fronds, bamboo screens, java straw, coconut water juice boxes, bamboo decking, wood, scrim fabric, bamboo curtain, deckchair, sound, lighting controller (housed in coconut), coloured halogen lights
