Complex problems cannot be solved within the boundaries of a single scientific discipline. They require the knowledge and expertise of researchers from various fields of science who are united in a Cluster. The individual disciplines themselves benefit here from a consequent strengthening and enrichment. The interdisciplinary laboratory Image Knowledge Gestaltung is such a union of social, natural and technological sciences, medicine and – for the first time in basic research – the disciplines of design and architecture as well. In this interdisciplinary laboratory, more than 25 different disciplines come together to investigate the fundamental Gestaltung processes of the sciences.
