Every three years the Handwerksmuseum (museum of crafts) organizes a competition on the creation of an everyday item. In 2025, the theme of the tenth competition is “Rethinking headgear”. Shape, material, size and manufacturing technique can be chosen optionally. Large or small, classic, trendy or extravagant; headgear can exist in all colors, shapes and materials and be versatile; made of textile, wood or ceramic, metal or glass, simple or elaborate: They are as unique as the person who wears or adorns them. Whether hats as sun protection or for decoration, protective headgear such as helmets, or even sophisticated wigs – to name just a few examples – can be submitted to the competition.
