Lonely in Cov-19 tells the story of GIRL CAM 2020’s loneliness during Covid-19. Designed as a surveillance cyborg who patrols the streets and monitors human behaviour, GIRL CAM 2020 finds herself lost as humans are compelled to retreat to their homes due to corona virus. GIRL CAM 2020’s surveillance camera becomes obsolete as the streets are empty with no faces to film.

She reminisces of her pre-Covid-19 days when she was the ultimate figure of control, replaying footage of the humans stored on her database. She dreams of the day that her cyborg counterparts can join her as an empire: when their surveillance function can be fulfilled as the humans finally come out of lockdown.

Green screen footage of GIRL CAM 2020 is combined with iPhone footage of Hackney supermarkets during the first sign of panic due to Corona virus; the shelves empty and chaotic act as a metaphor for the streets.
