About the book:

The loss of cherished natural resources, animals and landmarks is beginning to impact our culture and cause a deep social grieving process. Think of the Polar Bear and Imagine losing the Panda, the Dolphins or the Bees. We are already fighting a losing battle with the preservation of the Great Barrier Reef, but imagine losing the Alpine glaciers, the Maledives, the polar caps, the Amazon...

Evolution and change are a fundamental force of nature, but merely surviving the effects of these forces is not enough to sustain what we 
have grown to know as a rich and fulfilled life.

Placing ourselves into the imagined future, this project reminisces upon things we will have lost to climate change in the form of poetry and illustrations.


Goodbye Cool World

An illustration and animation project about sacrifice, community, stillness and responsibility. 
What does it mean to sacrifice yourself for others that you can not see? 
You stand still, and a little micro community may grow upon your shoulders. Little people with little lives and little responsibilities of their own. They have little tiny cares and concerns, work stresses, love problems, family issues. They can be stupid and greedy or drunk and stoned or serious and angry. They could be us, or you or like anyone we know. They may be the little tiny worst or the tiny little the best. You will never see them, and they will never know you are there. You are just the earth to them, the little cities growing on your shoulders. 
The question is, do you care? 
Would you shrug?

This is an ongoing illustration project about being a little bit lost.
I didn't know anyone when I first arrived in Berlin, or anything about the city. I felt quite little and displaced and lonely and I did a lot of inner city train travel, always clockwise on the S-bahn ring.
From this I was able to map the city and I created a series of simple semi abstracted animated maps.
After a while as I felt more at home, Berlin began to take on a personality for me - and the circular heads began appearing as maps, instead of an actual landscape.
Hopefully, one day I will feel so at home, I won't be needing a map to show me the way anymore. I'll just know.
