On February 14th 2017, Melsen released a new recorded called "Romantic_ism". The follow-up to his debut album DADA, is a collection of ten new songs. "Romantic_ism" explores genres similair to those of its predecessor, including electro, dance, noise, (synth)pop and industrial. All songs written and produced by Melsen himself. It's no coincidence that the record was released on Valentine's Day as most of the songs are about love.  Love can be of various sorts: nature, animals, oceans, friends. The whole universe is running over the unspoken language of love.


"Wanting U" stands out on the record because it's a wonderfully crafted song. It's a love song in which Melsen sings (through a vocoder): "I've been living a life alone, I've been living on my own. I've been seeing so many men. I've been trying for all I can. But I'm wanting, I'm wanting, I'm wanting you". Closing track "Make It Rain" is somewhat poetic. Melsen sings about building a machine to travel through time: "I'm working on the engines. I'm gonna make this work. I want to make streets clean and let the bad times wash away". And later on: "but when I look up, I see the clouds all making rain". 


First single "See How It Bleeds" was written right after the Orlando shooting in 2016. It's an alternative, electronic song with lyrics like "Cut out my eyes, I dont want to see. When I've waited years to be me... I once was for talking, but i remember how you walked in, and cut out my heart to see how it beats. See how it bleeds". 
On first listen "Romantic_ism" is not an easy task, as there are many things going on and lyrics are (most of the time) hard to hear. However, if you are into electronic/ experimental sounding records you will enjoy this one.

The International Gallery of the Arts (IGOA) had the great honour of hosting this month's Abstract Art Exhibition. They received a stunning collection of unique artistry from very talented artists worldwide. IGOA was very pleased with the diverse selection of artwork received and are extremely honoured to display these works to their international audience.This online art exhibition features both 2D and 3D showcases of exceptional abstract pieces, all of which were entered in last months Abstract Art Contest. The International Gallery of the Arts extends their gratitude to all of the artists that participated and would like to congratulate their top three winners: Tom Melsen for his acrylicpainting "Memories," Emmeline Basulto for her acrylic creation "Platonic Waste" and to Patricia Concha for her drawing "Timeless Dimension." 

Tom Melsen is a dutch artist who lives and works in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). He paints classical portraits buried under modern abstraction. Melsen exhibited his work internationally. His latest solo exhibited, titled "Eyes For Eternity" (Berlin, Germany) received critical acclaim. Critics stated "A master at capturing emotions in a way that words could never attain". In 2014 Melsen has been nominated for a Palm Art Award. Melsen's work has been published in magazines and art books worldwide.

Tom Melsen - Naked Figure In The Woods (2016)

October 16th will see the worldwide release of DADA.  Melsen, who has never been interested in following known rules, now comes with an experimental but radio friendly album called DADA. Melsen has always been inspired by the DADA art movement and has been experimenting with various art forms over the past five years; whether it’s painting, collage work, music or poetry. 
With this record Melsen experiments with electronic sounds and collaborates with musicians from Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. 

The album can be described as experimental synthpop in the vain of Daft Punk, Crystal Castles and even Lady Gaga.
