The Fabric Butterfly is a large scale installation which sits about 8 ft x 12 ft (roughly) when both pieces are brought together. The reason why I started making this piece was because I had inherited a Plymouth of fabrics from my grandmother. After sitting on it for a year and donating half of it to a kids workshop I was co-teaching I decided to start making artwork with it and make something that would represent my nana and papa and the love they shared. This love was beautiful and never perfect lots of time it was chaotic it remained strong and together till the very end. Which made me think of the twin flame connection. I wanted to make an image of a male & female and use the fabrics to represent their aura around them which ended up becoming a cascading river of ribbon, lace, silk, and glitter. After creating the butterfly I wanted to make up 2 characters that would be photographed with the fabric and the art thus extending the art piece to a photo project. I've already coordinated one photo shoot and am working on a few more. You can see more photos on facebook and instagram! 1 love
