Lynne Margaret Brown

I create art based on a concept/idea in a variety of mediums typically beginning with photography and/or drawing. This work includes large-scale drawings, photography, collage, digital/traditional printmaking and some sculpture, and “Wearables”, clothing created through concept, technology and art. I am exploring video creating very short 2-5 minute art film and number human story video creations.

The work I create is influenced by sensory experience, kinetics and energy. I start with a concept and apply the medium. I find inspiration in place, local and diverse communities and culture. My research begins with topological studies of different geographical locations architecture and communities. Currently local cultural groups, park dwellers/revelers, cycling/bmx communities their association with markmaking, energy, speed and movement. Personal stories. Real experience versus hyperreality.

The focus is upon contrast and manipulation of each art element, of space, materials, of composition and theme. Some current INFLUENCES: The work of Arman, Anselm Kiefer, Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman, Xiu Bing, Tania Bruguera, Pina Bausch, Vik Muniz, Kathe Kollwitz, Alice Neel, Egon Schiele, J.P, Swoon, Umberto Boccioni.
