Gai Saunders is a visual artist who lives and works on the west coast of Australia. She has been working in a variety of media for over 20 years. Her current arts practice is inspired by the secret lives of flora and fauna and reflects the search for peace and solitude in an increasingly noisy world.
Her paintings depict a merging of real and imagined scenes while her assemblages made of found objects blur the boundaries of these two and three-dimensional worlds.
This combination of visual approaches is often where a narrative between the mediums develops combining identifiable aspects of the natural environment yet exposing the vulnerability of the hidden wilderness within us.
Gai has many years teaching experience and her work has been seen in numerous group exhibitions since her first solo exhibition in 1993.
Gay has been invited to collaborate, enter awards and complete private and corporate commissions.
