moving balkans showcase festival

Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Platform is a new dynamic collaboration of dance professionals from across the Balkans. The mission of the platform is to elevate contemporary dance in the region and position it competitively within Europe. Through a regional partnership network, showcases, artist mobility initiatives, workshops, co-creations, and capacity-building activities, we empower dance professionals and raise awareness of the vibrant dance scene in the Balkans.

From the open call 10 contemporary dance works will be selected to be presented on the first edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase which will be held in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Rijeka (Croatia) and Zagreb (Croatia) between 10–13 of May 2025. The festival will showcase productions from the Balkan region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Türkiye) and offer opportunities to meet, exchange ideas, interact with the audience and dance professionals, and be part of a new artistic network.

The selected performances will be shown amongst the three cities to the general public as well as to international professionals in the field of contemporary dance. Furthermore, the works will also benefit from the network touring scheme.
