Bone Idle is a Berlin-based magazine that provides a printed platform for people to display written content and visual art.
Bone Idle is all about attempting to unpack the contradictions inherent in “progress” and dissolving the notion that adhering to a given set of rules and structures improves quality of life.
In its inaugural issue Bone Idle is going to tackle PLAY. It will document the experience of play in three broad spaces: the home, the street, and the office and our “becoming” in these places. Its aim is to present playfulness as a form of intuitive social learning. Free from structure, ungoverned by form - we who play can transform our built environment and manifest, in any space, an idea of the world as we wish to experience it.
We believe that progress is an inherently loaded term, full of the contradictions of a murky past and a politically dubious future, it is the invisible hand that feeds a life of accidie . For us, the antidote to this is to encourage meaningful interactions with our environment and to redefine our space through playful-constructive behaviour. Whether positive or negative: in our routine, our sexuality(s), our art, or our work - we want to hear from anyone who understands play as the fulfilment of natural curiosity and recognises its power to undermine structures of control.
Bone Idle will consider written submissions in any format of less than 1500 words and visual content in all forms. We welcome submissions in languages other than English. All enquiries and submissions should be sent to email@example.com
