Sharing economic realities around the world
Saturday 18th May @ CREA, AMSTERDAM
Rethinking Economics connects people globally to discuss and enact the change needed for the future of economics and economic education, and to propel the vital debate on what economics is today.
The purpose of the festival is to shed light on and engage with diverse economic and political contexts around the world. There will be a series of lectures by renowned speakers with different backgrounds about their research and expertise on specific geographic regions.
The regions taken into consideration will be (based on World Bank guidelines):
East Asia and Pacific
Europe and Central Asia
Latin America and Caribbean
Middle East and North Africa
The organizers of the 2nd edition of the Rethinking Economics festival are looking for artists that can offer a visual contribution to better understand the socio-political realities of the geographic areas listed above. The works will be on display at CREA throughout the festival and will be a main point of the festival program. There is the possibility for the artists to be present at the festival/exhibition to actively engage in the discussions and topics of the lectures.
• The preferred medium is video, yet not a necessity.
• The work submitted must address concerning socio-political issues reflecting historical, contemporary or future scenarios of one of the geographical areas listed above.
• Each artist can submit up to 3 proposals, each accompanied by a short statement (max. 200 words).
• All the works must be submitted before April 18th. Email address for submission and information is: email@example.com The chosen artists will be contacted by mail within the end of the same month.
As the festival is taking place at the campus of the University of Amsterdam the organizers are especially reaching out to students and becoming artists to participate. The festival can guarantee a wide reach of your work, as well as networking possibilities.
