Bone Idle aims to tackle the humdrum day to day routine by asserting the value of play in everyday life.
In its inaugural issue Bone Idle is going to tackle PLAY. It will document the experience of play in three broad spaces: the home, the street, and the office and our “becoming” in these places. Its aim is to present playfulness as a form of intuitive social learning. Free from structure, ungoverned by form - we who play can transform our built environment and manifest, in any space, an idea of the world as we wish to experience it.
We believe that progress is an inherently loaded term, full of the contradictions of a murky past and a politically dubious future, it is the invisible hand that feeds a life of apathy . For us, the antidote to this is to encourage meaningful interactions with our environment and to redefine our space through playful-constructive behaviour. Whether positive or negative: in our routine, our sexuality(s), our art, or our work - we want to hear from anyone who understands play as the fulfilment of natural curiosity and recognises its power to undermine structures of control.
Bone idle is specifically looking for written contributions and photography concerning transformations of urban and working environments. Playgrounds, offices, car parks, streets, or subways; we wish to document our collective journey through these spaces and unpick the oppressive structures that govern them.
