First, they came for the immigrants.  Next, they targeted the black people.  Eventually, they decided the muslims were dangerous.  After that, they said the muslims were dangerous.  And then they came for me.
This multi media piece is a modern day interpretation of the poem First They Came, written by Pastor Martin Niemoller as a confession for inaction during the holocaust.  It is made from a deconstructed drum set, oil paintings on aluminum, graffiti,  pipe cleaners, tile, rebar, barbed wire and LED lights.  The piece is activated by a motion sensor that illuminates each drum.
