As I investigate the contemporary approach to drawing, I am searching for connections in the abstract imagery created through my drawing processes. In order to ‘make sense’/find significance in these marks on a page, I’m using colour. Pareidolias is still one of the main discourses involved in my work.

HELP! NEED FRAMING SERVICE

Following on from my previous series, Drawing With Objects, which was an investigation into the potential and diversity of drawing as a medium and not just a process, I am now changing variables of how I capture objects on paper. By changing small components of how I create these marks, will provide me with more marks to manipulate and investigate the medium of drawing

Changing the Variables

The Drawing Project is a research exhibition, which I curated at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester (UK). The exhibition explored my interest in the development of drawing as a medium even further. Alongside my own work I  showed  six artists, all at different stages in their career, and all based in the Northwest, who respond to the medium of drawing in diverse and innovative ways including 2D & 3D drawing, drawing installations, animation and performance. 

Previously thought of as simply a means of an artist making a preparatory study, drawing, since the Modernist period has become accepted in the art world the ‘final outcome’, with artists continually redefying what drawing might be in order to realise their work and ideas.

Participating Artists: Jenny Core, Sophia Crilly, Hondartza Fraga,  Mary Griffiths, Lesley Halliwell, Jenny Steele and Claire Weetman.
